The landscape architecture emphasizes the role of the airport as a place for arrival to and departure from Munich and Bavaria. The grounds are to be developed based on themes found in the multi-faceted Bavarian landscape. Different kinds of landscape have been built in forms that have been emphasized artistically. There are views of the Munich glacial plain with its gravel beds; stylized versions of the hills below the Alps; and stones and rocks from alpine Bavaria.
